This title is intended for the sophomore-level, two-term laboratory component of the organic chemistry course taken by chemistry and pre-med majors that use a standard scale approach (also known as macroscale), small-scale (also known as miniscale). Some consider standard and small-scale as the same, although nuanced definitions distinguish the two standard scale or macroscale approaches that use big glassware and large amounts of chemicals (less in use today because of cost and environmental concerns). Macroscale more closely resembles how an industrial chemist works in the field.
